A BELLS PURPOSE:
In the motorcycle world, there's a belief in a malevolent force called "gremlins" that seek to cause trouble for bikers. These creatures lay out traps on the road or use unseen devices to damage motorcycles, putting riders in danger. One night, an experienced biker was on his way back from Mexico with a bag full of trinkets for his biker friends and children. However, the gremlins were waiting for him and caused him to crash. As he lay in the ditch, he noticed that the bells he had bought for the children scared away the gremlins. He threw them at the gremlins, and they fled. The ringing of the bells seemed to confuse the gremlins and keep them at bay.
Grateful for his rescue, the biker cut some tassels off his saddlebag and used them to tie bells to the motorcycles of his rescuers. He explained that the bells would serve as a warning against the gremlins and that if they ever found themselves in trouble, they could ring the bell for help. From that day forward, the "biker bell" became a symbol of protection and good luck for riders, and it continues to be a cherished tradition in the motorcycle community.
